A Best Friend for Gabriel

At the October First Friday in Phoenix, Arizona, artists partnered to raise funds for 14 year old Gabriel, an autistic boy with Down Syndrome, to help purchase a service dog.

“Raising money for 14 year old Gabriel V (full last name has been blocked to avoid identify theft) of Mesa Arizona, to get a emotional support animal! Gabriel lives with Down Syndrome and Autism. It is believed that a ESA dog would greatly improve his quality of life, help him to communicate (he is non verbal autistic ) and be a companion for him. Gabriel lives with his mom, dad and younger sister.” From Gofundme.com.

We were able to add around $120 to their effort. Surprisingly, at least to me, the cost of a certified service dog starts at around $25K!

According to the Gofundme account, the family has raised $23,581 of their $30,000 goal.

Instagram artists, @Inkroseart and @armandohere were among the artists who contributed from the proceeds of work sold on Friday night. We also had several kindhearted patrons donate cash.
