At the October First Friday in Phoenix, Arizona, artists partnered to raise funds for 14 year old Gabriel, an autistic boy with Down Syndrome, to help purchase a service dog.
“Raising money for 14 year old Gabriel V (full last name has been blocked to avoid identify theft) of Mesa Arizona, to get a emotional support animal! Gabriel lives with Down Syndrome and Autism. It is believed that a ESA dog would greatly improve his quality of life, help him to communicate (he is non verbal autistic ) and be a companion for him. Gabriel lives with his mom, dad and younger sister.” From Gofundme.com.
We were able to add around $120 to their effort. Surprisingly, at least to me, the cost of a certified service dog starts at around $25K!
According to the Gofundme account, the family has raised $23,581 of their $30,000 goal.
